Visit from Grandma and Grandad

Well this weekend my mom and dad stopped in to Wake Forest since they had been in Georgia for a conference. On the way home they stopped to see us. They came in Thursday afternoon. With them came a few gifts for the kids from Aunt Donna. Here is Caleb checking out his new tractor. Even though its John Deere, he loved it. :)

Chloe got the game Pretty as a Princess and loved it. We have played it SEVERAL times since.

Caitlyn received a new cooking set for the kitchen and has cooked many meals for us. Thanks so much for the gifts Aunt Donna and Uncle Jimmy.

Friday after we picked Chloe up from school we went out to dinner at the "peanut place" as Caitlyn would call it, otherwise known as The Texas Roadhouse. Here are a few pics of the family.

Grandad and Chloe (yes this pic is a little fuzzy its not your eyes)

Here is Caitlyn with Grandma.

Chloe was worried that grandma and grandad would leave today before they got to see her cheer. So she was sooo excited when she found out that they would stay until after she cheered today. It was a big rush to get her to the church on time for the game since Chloe had to go to school today, yes on a Saturday. Today was their makeup day since the snowfall this week. Since she attends a year round school, they make them up on Saturdays. Weird I know, but she only had to go a half day. I told her that was a first for me. I never went to school on a Saturday. She thought that was funny. Here is Caitlyn posing for me. She is so beautiful..

Here are the girls doing a cheer during halftime. Chloe is a flyer. They did such a good job. Way to go Dazzlers!!

Grandad and Grandma with Chloe after the game. Sorry dad I cut half your head off in the pic.

Well Dad and Mom left a little while ago to head back to West Virginia. We were glad they stopped in to see us. We put up a new ceiling fan and light in our living room and we taught them how to play Uno Attack. I think my mom and dad are addicted to it. They were actually up till 12:30 last night. That's late for them. I eventually had to cut them off and send them to bed.
Well that's all for now. Check back later for some other updates from the Myers.

Here we go Again

Well after I woke up from sleeping today, Chloe finally felt up to going outside. Here she is all smiles.
Here is Chloe and Caleb checking the snow out. Caitlyn politely let me know she'd would stay inside and watch us from the window. She said " I like warm weather mommy." How funny is that.
.

SNOW!!!

That's right you read it right. It snowed here in Wake Forest, NC. I am so excited. I think I am more excited than the kids. All night at work I couldn't wait to get home so the kids could get up and see the snow. So when I got home, Chloe was awake so I showed her the snow. She just smiled, but she hasn't felt well so she stayed in bed. Caitlyn and Caleb were up and I showed them the snow and they got the biggest smiles. They really weren't sure what it was, since they haven't been in snow before. So here are some photos of our early morning excursion outside to see snow.
Here is Chloe all snuggled in her warm bed with Smokey the cat.
Here is Chloe's bike outside our back door.
This was Caleb's first reaction to the snow blowing in his face. Brrrr....
Caitlyn on the other hand, wasn't so sure about the cold stuff blowing on her.
Caleb was so funny. He tried to run and kept falling down, but still kept on laughing.
Caitlyn was in the corner out of the way of the blowing snow. She was saying her hands were cold. She didn't last long, but at least she got to experience the snow.
I love this shot of Caleb. He is so sweet.
I was showing Caitlyn how to do a snow angel. I felt like a kid again. It was so fun.
Here is my result. How beautiful!!
Then Caleb tried to do one, face first.
Here is daddy and Caleb right before we went back inside. My fingers were starting to freeze.
Hopefully Chloe will feel better later and go out and experience the snow. Say a prayer that she starts to feel better. I'm gonna try to post some video of the kids in the snow later.
Now that we got to play in the snow some, I think its off to bed. Check back later for more updates...

Caitlyn and her 1st day at Preschool

Well today was a big day in our household. Caitlyn was set to go to her first day of preschool at Wake Crossroads Baptist Church. She had been so excited. We went yesterday and she picked out a new lunch box and backpack. This morning when I came home Caitlyn was fussing so I asked her what was wrong and she finally told me she was scared. Chloe came over beside her and told her it was ok to be scared and that sometimes we get scared when we do something new. And by the end of day she would probably be so happy. It was so sweet, Chloe was giving her a pep talk. Then she was ready to go. So they headed downstairs for breakfast before heading off to school.
Here she is just before heading out the door.
Dale was taking the pictures and he took a lot. But he did a good job. Here is Caitlyn getting ready to enter the building.
As soon as she went in, we met Mrs Ada and Mrs Dawn her teachers.
Caitlyn is part of the Tigers classroom.
Caitlyn went right in and learned where to place her belongings.
Caitlyn sat right down at the table and was ready to go.
Here is Caitlyn with Mrs Ada.
She didn't even think twice about it. When Dale picked her up she was so excited. She had such a good time. I know she is going to love going to school like her big sister Chloe. Just doesn't seem like its been that long since she was a baby. They grow up so fast.

Chloe

Here is the video of Chloe and her first day of cheering. There is also a clip of Caleb which will just melt your heart. Enjoy!!

GO CHLOE!!

Today was Chloe's first day of cheerleading for Upward. She was so excited. The expression on her face was priceless. Here she is with the other girls in her squad. They are the Dazzlers!!

Look at how happy she is. I was nervous at first because she is so shy at first. But she did so good. Chloe even got the Spirit star for today. I am so proud of her.
Here she is sitting in her "cheer sit" I never thought I would be typing about cheer sitting. Anyone who knows me, knows I am farthest from the cheerleader type. But since Chloe is excited about it so am I.

We have a video to post but it is still in the working. Check back later!!

Just a note

I thought that since Dale has blogged the last couple of days with so much theological insight I needed to update with normal talk, so here goes.
While we were at Dales moms house I went to Once Upon a Child store and found some really cute dresses. Here are the girls dressed up for church last Sunday in a few of their new outfits. They looked so cute. The good thing right now is they can both wear each others clothes. Yeah!!!

I tried to get a picture of all 3 of the kids but here is how it went.

Guess that one didn't go that well.
We are excited about the next few days. Chloe has her first cheerleading game tomorrow afternoon with Upward cheerleading. She is sooo excited. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. Then Caitlyn is going to be starting preschool on Tuesday. She is going to go on Tuesdays and Thursdays at a local church. She is getting so big and she is excited about going to school. So we have to go this weekend and pick out a new lunch bag and backpack.
Well, that's all for now.. Check back soon for new updates...

53rd Anniversary

Today I finished the book "The Life and Testament of Jim Elliot: Shadow of the Almighty" by Elisabeth Elliot. The final chapter ends in this way "...on Sunday, January 8, 1956, the men for whom Jim Elliot had prayed for six years killed him and his four companions." It struck me that I finished the book on the anniversary of the death that brought about its birth. Isn't it amazing that God works through death to bring about life. He has done that in my life by raising me from death to life through the death of His Son Jesus. Through the death of Jim Elliot life was brought to countless numbers in Christ through those inspired by his life and death to follow him into the mission field. Eventually the same men that killed him found life in Christ as well. What an awesome God we have!

When I think of Jim Elliot I think of the quote often associated with him "He is no fool who gives that which he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." The quote that I will take from this book and his life is one he made in 1948 "God, I pray Thee, light these idle sticks of my life and may I burn for Thee. Consume my life, my God, for it is Thine. I seek not a long life, but a full one, like you, Lord Jesus." Wow! Thank You God for this challenge! May the cry of my heart be the same! May I live for You!

Update from Dale

I haven't posted anything for quite a while. Jill has been doing an amazing job of keeping everybody posted about all that has been going on in our lives. I finished up last semester and rested for a week or two as we went to my parents house for a visit. When we returned I then got back to some reading. I have purposed to read a biography and a doctrinally based book at the end of each semester. I find that the biography helps me to unwind from the stress of the semester yet stokes my fire to serve. This time I'm reading "Shadow of the Almighty" by Elisabeth Elliot about her husband Jim Elliot. It has been great so far and quite a challenge to read of his life and passion for God. The doctrinally based book I'm reading is "Chosen for Life: The Case for Divine Election" by Sam Storms. I have enjoyed learning more of election through this book. I read slow (and being here at school now really makes me feel slow when I hear of what others do in terms of reading) yet know I need to keep at it because it keeps my mind engaged in loving Him. Being engaged in this way was a great lesson learned and challenge from my theology class this semester. Dr. Hammett, my theology professor, made the following statement and it resonates in my heart even as I write this post "theology is loving God with all your mind". I have not necessarily loved Him well in this area of my life.

As for the adjustment of moving here I find that this is an ongoing process. I've not found the close relationships that I have in the past. It's weird being here at school yet totally exciting at the same time. The excitement is that I'm learning to love Him with all my mind as I never have before in my life - better late than never as I'll be 35 this year :). Looking forward to what God has in store and continue to be in awe of Him! His work in my life through this time is painful and amazing. Love you all and be in prayer for us and we seek His Face! I especially love you Jill - you are truly the most amazing woman I've ever met!

Chloe's First Haircut

Today was a big day. Chloe and I went to get her first haircut. I took her over to Great Clips. Here are a few pictures of it. I finally decided since she is 5 that it was time to get her hair at least trimmed. Here is Chloe getting her hair washed. She was a little nervous at first, but soon relaxed.

She thought she was such a big girl sitting in the chair.
Hold still Chloe so she doesn't cut too much off. She took about 3 inches off.

Here Chloe is getting her hair dryed like a big girl.

The final product. It looks so good with all the straggly ends cut off. They even gave her a little card to signify her first haircut.

Look closely at her little piece of hair on the card.

I think I was as nervous as Chloe but it looks so good now. I survived this one, now only 2 more kids to take to get their 1st haircut.

New Years Happenings

Well we went over to Doris' house on New Years Eve and had a blast. I love playing catch phrase and she has the newest version and the phrases were actually kind of tough but it was so fun. It was nice just to hang out and have fun, the kids were having fun as well. Naomi and the girls and Caleb had fun just running around and playing.
Here they are being silly with their sunglasses on. Aren't they so cool!

Caleb kept running in circles trying to catch the girls.

On New Years Day we went over to the Pauleys house for some good food and fellowship. Our kids love to play together. She has three boys, ages 6,5 and 3. They love to dance and to put on singing shows for the adults. Here they are dancing. Dale and I learned how to play phase 10 with Fred and Wendy. We had a great time and can't wait to go over again and play some more games. Dale ended up winning, I think he just had a lucky streak :)
